During the Civil War Missouri was a state divided, suffering from a fractured identity and caught up in a struggle of no quarter. That violent period of near-anarchy is examined in the traveling exhibit A State Divided: The Civil War in Missouri, a joint effort of the Missouri Humanities Council and the Missouri History Museum. Last year was the first year that Junction City hosted the National Biplane Fly In with 150 planes attending. This year more planes are expected. You can practice flying in a flight simulator, ride a Black Horse Hitch, purchase food and aviation jewelry and memorabilia to air plane parts from vendors. There is no admission charge on Thursday or Friday but Saturday there is a $5.00 per car. For a fee you can ride in one of the Biplanes. Civil War Speaker Series: Civil War Music
Bonnie, Ashley and Caleb Pooker, and Linda Brookshier will play and sing popular songs from the Civil War. Bonnie will speak about the significance of the songs, where they originated, and the differences between songs sung by Union and Confederate soldiers. The audience will also have the change to sing along. The speaking event is free, regular admission prices apply for tours....details >>
