Four floors of exhibits cover millions of years of life on Earth: ancient mosasaurs and other fossils, modern science about parasites and microbes, live insects and snakes.

The large natural history diorama dates to the 1893 World's Fair, where it was one of the most popular attractions. Assembled by University of Kansas professor Lewis Lindsay Dyche, it depicts wolves, prairie dogs, bison, moose, and other creatures. Comanche, the Army horse once thought to be the sole survivor of Little Big Horn, is also here.

Other exhibits in Dyche Hall include Bugtown, Explore Evolution, and The Life of the Past.
