Built by Italian stonemason Mark Migilario c. 1850's, possibly the first dwelling in Lecompton and the residence of William Simmons and his son Thomas who made their living fishing and operating a ferry on the Kansas River. Used later as a railroad pay station and as a private residence. Stone addition added later to log cabin. All that remains now is the stone addition.
