Eaton Elected President of Kansas City Archaeological Society
Congratulations to Melissa Eaton, MCC-Longview Anthropology Instructor, on her election as president of the Kansas City Archaeological Society, the local chapter of the Missouri Archaeological Society, for 2012-2013.
In addition to running the society’s meetings, as president, Melissa will organize educational opportunities such as archaeological field schools. These involve hands-on opportunities for students, teachers, and amateur archaeologists.
She will also be presenting information about sites in danger of losing their protected status. One such local site is the Battle of Lone Jack, which is currently being considered for loss of its protected status by the National Park Service.
Melissa will also have the opportunity to organize purely fun events like the society’s annual picnic.
