The Wreaths Across America event will be held Saturday, December 15, 2018, at 11 a.m. The purpose of this event is to remember and honor the military, and to teach children why we have freedoms here in America. Part of this effort is to place wreaths on the deceased/fallen military veterans within the hallowed grounds of one of our nation's 14 original National cemeteries along with over 900 locations worldwide.
There are approximately 22,000 military markers within Ft. Leavenworth National Cemeteries grounds. The goal for this event is to see every beautiful, white marble military marker, representing a military service member honored.
There are several ways for volunteers to get involved. There is no cost to attend or participate in a Wreaths Across America event.
How to get involved:
- Participate in the ceremony and event on Saturday, December 15, at 11 a.m. Wreaths are expected to arrive at 10:30 a.m.
- Sponsor a wreath. Choose "Friends and Family of Military Heroes (KS0005)" as Group. For every 2 wreaths sponsored ($30 for two) the wreath company sends a 3rd one FREE.
- Place wreaths on the graves. You do not have to sponsor wreaths to participate.
Suggested Parking for the WAA event is at the Frontier Conference Center (FCC) located directly East of the cemetery.
