Walking Tours of Historic Downtown on May 5
Downtown’s Historical Past Comes to Life

The Lee’s Summit Historical Society and the Lee’s Summit Historic Preservation Commission will present “Downtown Walking Tour 2012” on May 5th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., beginning at the corner of Third and Green streets in downtown Lee’s Summit.

Learn about the history and richness of our historic downtown while strolling along the streets of this award-winning district. Hear stories about downtown’s business owners and the City’s residents brought to life by the Lee’s Summit North IB History and Debate students. Early Lee’s Summit residents Cole Younger, Dr. Pleasant Lea and Todd George will be the notables represented during the tour.

There will be a tour every 10 minutes. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Adults will receive a booklet detailing the history of many of the buildings highlighted during the tours.

For information, call Kathy Smith at (816) 935-8853, send an e-mail to her at derbyshirelane@prodigy.net, or contact Chris Hughey at (816) 969-1600.
