Learn about When Kings Reigned at 2018 Living River Festival Freedom's Frontier National Heritage Area is hosting a screening of
When Kings Reigned, a documentary about the men who lived and fished commercially between 1870-1970, in Lawrence, Kansas. The film includes information about two African American fishermen, well-known in Lawrence, Abe and Jake Washington.
The screening is being held Sunday, July 22, from 3-5 p.m., at the Carnegie Building, where Freedom's Frontier has offices, 200 W 9th Street, in Lawrence, Kansas. The screening is followed by a question and answer session.
Sunday's event is part of the three-day 2018 Living River Festival. The festival is a celebration of the human-river connection in Lawrence. Other festival events:
