Flint Hills Summer Roundup: A Benefit Concert with Good Music and Old Friends
MANHATTAN, KS- The Flint Hills Summer Roundup is happening on Saturday, June 24, 7 p.m. at Albert Taylor Hall on the campus of Emporia State University. The Diamond W Wranglers Band, (formerly the Prairie Rose Wranglers), will be performing with a special guest appearance by the Flint Hills' own Jim Hoy, renowned historian, educator, author, poet, songwriter, singer, guitar player and rancher.
The Diamond W Wranglers Band will perform the fundraising concert to benefit four Flint Hills non-profit organizations that educate and inspire folks to preserve the Flint Hills history, culture and tallgrass prairie. The $38 ticket price covers the concert, wine, beer, water and light refreshments. Ticket proceeds will benefit Camp Wood, Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation, Pioneer Bluffs and Symphony in the Flint Hills. Bruce Snead, President of the Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation extended his thanks to Richard and Sarah Porter, Porter Cattle Co. near Reading, KS for being the sponsors for this event.
With Richard and Sarah’s visionary support, all of the proceeds of the ticket sales will go to the non-profits to further their efforts in bringing awareness to this unique tallgrass prairie ecosystem. This will be a wonderful evening to celebrate the Flint Hills see old friends and enjoy great music!
