Legacies of the Civil War:Mark Twain and the Civil War Program At Johnson County Library

The Johnson County Library will host a program entitled Mark Twain and the Civil War on Wednesday, November 30, at 7:00 p.m. at the Central Resource Library, 9875 W. 87th St., Overland Park, KS. Mark Twain expert Martin Zehr will speak on the author’s ongoing relevance in American literature and take questions about the man and his works. This presentation, illustrated with historical photos and artifacts, will examine the reasons for the continuing popularity of this American icon.


Martin Zehr, Ph.D., J.D. is a member of the Mark Twain Circle of America and has written many Twain-related articles for academic journals and made presentations at the local, national and international level. This event is part of Johnson County Library’s 2011-2012 Legacies of the Civil War series.
