Fort Scott NHS Announces Holiday Closures
Fort Scott, KS— Fort Scott National Historic Site will be closed on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, 2013. Beginning immediately, the park will close on all federal holidays during the months of October through February.
“Closing on these traditionally low visitation days will maximize the use of our anticipated funding levels to enhance visitor experience through special programs and events as well as educational programs” stated acting Superintendent Kelley Collins.
Although the buildings will be closed, visitors are permitted to walk the grounds. Fort Scott National Historic Site, a unit of the National Park system, is open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
